Weekend Etsy Picks

I just discovered a pair of vintage Carrera sunglasses!  I am loving all of the vintage styles that are being re-released this summer, so I was really excited to find that Retrosun has a pair of vintage Carrera aviator sunglasses available.

Retrosun Vintage Carrera Sunglasses $365

These sunglasses have a vintage aviator style with gold frames and gray lenses.  The gold bridge detail is very distinctive.  It’s great to see the contrast between the candy-colored plastic aviators that are popular now and the polished gold vintage frames.

Carrera began as a high-performance sunglasses manufacturer that was known for designing the best in aviation eyewear.  These sunglasses are a collectors flight tech edition with a Boeing logo along the temple.

Vintage Carrera Sunglasses

This handwoven straw cap has a beautiful raspberry ribbon with colorful stitched flowers.  This is a very unique hat with the thick woven straw construction that is usually seen in the oversized floppy sun hats that have been popular this summer.  The Flower Stand Newsboy uses the same material in a short-billed newsboy for a more practical hat that could be worn for sun protection or fashion.

Sass, Style & Substance

People have been weaving leather for… well, pretty much as long as we’ve had leather!  But I think it’s safe to say that it’s never been quite this decorative before

John Hardy has combined unique cast sterling silver findings with woven leather to create his hip “Dragon” bracelets:

Bottega Veneta has also created woven leather bracelets, this one is finished off with a traditional knot (used in horse equipment or as a decorative accent) and loop to close it:

This bracelet, also by Bottega Veneta is a little different.  It still looks like a metallic finish leather, but it actually is woven metal!  They’ve used the same style of weaving and finished it off with little coral elephant and fish charms:

Ray-Ban Neon Wayfarer Skinnies in Dark Orange $129

My new discovery in the Ray-Ban collection is the Neon Wayfarer Skinnies.  These are similar to the classic Ray-Ban Wayfarers, which we have seen absolutely everywere this summer on every celebrity and in every color combination you could possibly imagine.  The difference is that the Skinnies have a distinctly (of course) skinnier frame and temple.  The classic Wayfarer is very chunky with a children’s toy quality to the emphasized colored plastic of the frame.

I like these Wayfarers because they are more delicate and seem to be adapted to fit women’s styles.  These sunglasses have oversized gradient lenses and brightly colored plastic frames.  They come in Dark Orange, Azure Fluorescent, and Yellow Fluorescent.
