Have you seen some of the Onion Sports Network clips floating around YouTube and other video outlets? They are absolutely hilarious. For those of you unfamiliar, The Onion delivers the snarky, false side of news and does it in a way that makes you go “waa?” and then “hahaha.” They have a series of video clips that deal with sports stories, like this one:

In a press release, Comedy Central announced that it has worked out a deal for The Onion to do a scripted comedy series that will “take on the whole universe of modern sports — teams, players, leagues, sycophantic fans, ridiculous products and over-hyped sports coverage.” Should be a gem, and I’m sure you all will find humor in it. And doesn’t the world need a little more humor?

A-Rod Celebrates with Kate and Family

After the Yankees won the World Series, Alex Rodriguez partied it up with his girlfriend Kate Hudson and some of his teammates, including Derek Jeter. They all went to 1OAK and partied until late into the night. People says A-Rod even got up and showed off his singing ability, warbling “We Are the Champions.” (Wouldn’t you have loved to have seen that?)

Also at the party was Kate Hudson’s stepfather Kurt Russell. People there said Kate and A-Rod were “affectionate with each other,” and after Kate left Kurt Russell stayed behind and bonded.

Rashad McCants: Kadashian Reality Show Fake

I have a theory that involves ex’s. Namely? They should be quiet. Once they break up with you, they should never be allowed to talk to (or about) you again. But that’s just me.

One way this theory would work out well is with famous people. An ex of someone famous always seems to blab about things that the other person just doesn’t want people to know. Case in point? Khloe Kardashian and her ex NBA basketball boyfriend Rashad McCants. In an episode of Khloe’s reality show “Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami,” the Kardashian sisters are seen hacking into McCants’ voicemail and listening to a message supposedly sent by a female fan. McCants says this was totally staged and never happened.

They alude to this in this clip:

McCants definitely isn’t portrayed in a very good light. Did he cheat? Did he really go out with Khloe only for publicity? Who knows. The thing that shocked me was: you mean reality TV isn’t really real?

Favre Declines Talk Show Appearances

It’s funny the plethora of things that get reported on about Brett Favre. The latest is from TwinCities.com who says that Favre is “so focused on winning games this season that the Vikings QB has respectfully declined guest appearances on the Jay Leno and David Letterman TV shows.”

Shrug. Didn’t he always do this? I don’t remember him making the late night appearances when he played with the Packers during the regular season ever. I did see him once in a while on the boob tube in the off-season, like this particular appearance after his very first retirement.

I remember watching that appearance and saying to my husband, “I think he’s coming back.” Oh the memories!

All in all, if Favre really is making a conscious choice not to appearance on chat shows, I think it’s a very wise idea. He just needs to lay low (as much as that’s possible with someone as high profile as he is) and focus on the game.

The Favre Return, a Packer Fan’s Thoughts

There’s a lot of division amongst Packer fans right now, and it’s all thanks to the poor way Brett Favre’s retirement was handled from Packer management and the man himself. As soon as there was a rumor Favre might play for the Vikings, I circled the date the Packers would play the Vikings in Lambeau on the calendar. I knew it was going to be a big one.

The Packers, in the three weeks leading up to this match up played the Lions and Browns and got themselves feeling very confident. Overconfident. So it was a definite reality check to see the Vikings, a solid and mature football team, come in and trounce our behinds up and down our (home) field. Here are a few thoughts from one Packer fan:

Booing is a Classless Act
Sorry, but the one thing I always counted on was the class the Green Bay fans have. After seeing the fans boo Favre, a guy that put Green Bay on the map for 16 years, I couldn’t help but to think it left them looking very, very small.

Here’s what should have happened. The minute Favre returned to Green Bay he should have been applauded. He gave the team great years and led them like no quarterback had before. Stand and applaud. Then, stand and applaud even louder for the Green Bay Packers to beat the Vikings fair and square. Support your team. Booing made the fans look like sour losers even before the Packers got beat.

Packers Have Problems That Have Nothing to Do With Favre
Was Brett Favre really our problem on Sunday? Seriously? This game was just about “his revenge?” No. It showed even more clearly the problems the Packers have right now. Our offensive line can’t protect Rodgers, and more than that, Rodgers can’t scramble and come up with a thing even when they do. Rodgers looked every bit the rookie quarterback he really is. Don’t tell me about stats. Rodgers stats may be good, but he hasn’t shown himself to be a leader. The only stat that means anything right now is that he is the quarterback of a losing football team.

Favre Is Worth the Hype
Does Favre have a big ego? Is the hype really worth it? Who cares. You know what’s really important? Favre hit yet another record in his win against Green Bay. He had an outstanding game. He played like a mature, truly great quarterback. The “Favre haters” love to suck down negatively, but they miss one very important point: Favre really is that good.

Quit Comparing Favre to Rodgers
The issue of whether Brett Favre should have been replaced by Rodgers wasn’t about whether Rodgers was better than Favre. Who the heck ever believed that? Rodgers ISN’T better than Favre. The issue was timing. Rodgers was younger and “the future” of the team. But was it a good idea to replace Favre (and make no mistake, Thompson put pressure on Favre to leave) at that year? The year following the fact that the Packers were one game out of the Superbowl?

Thompson obviously believed it was. I’m not sure I agree. But one thing is sure, Rodgers can’t be compared to Favre. He isn’t Favre. NO ONE will ever be Favre. Rodgers has to create his own legacy, and right now, he’s got a long way before anyone can define him as a good replacement. That kind of definition takes years.

Jessica Simpson Phone-Stalking Tony Romo?

We told you about Tony Romo calling up his ex Jessica Simpson when her little dog daisy got snatched by a coyote, but apparently that call meant quite a bit more to Simpson than it did to Romo. The National Enquirer reports that when Romo called Simpson to offer her his condolences, she asked him if she could call him again sometime. He said, “sure” and she’s gone gonzo with the phone calls ever since. If she can’t get a hold of him, she calls one of his teammates to see where he is.

Now, we’ve heard before that Jessica gets very attached to her men, but this is a little hard to believe. Still, the paper says Romo is embarrassed by her displays and is getting ribbed by his teammates.

I’m always a little apprehensive when a celebrity reveals a secret right before they have a book coming out. So it was with a grain of salt that I absorbed the information that Andre Agassi had used crystal meth once upon a time. He says in a new memoir that he started in the 90s and used it frequently.

His new book, called Open, goes into more details. People reports that the book talks of “his descent into drug use, as well as his hair loss, his troubled marriage to Brooke Shields and the love he eventually found with his current wife, Steffi Graf.”

Poor Brooke. First Tom Cruise unleashes on her and now Agassi?

Anyways, like I said, maybe he did. Maybe he didn’t. Who am I to say. What do you guys think? Did he use meth? Or is this something to help sell books?

Matching Tattoos for Odom and Kardashian

There’s a question as to the status of their marriage (namely, did it really happen or are they still working on the prenup?), but that’s not stopping reality star Khloe Kardashian and the Lakers Lamar Odom from finding new ways to declare their love for each other. The two have gotten matching tattoos of each other’s initials. (There’s a great picture on Radar Online that shows a close up.)

The tattoos are meant to show the two sets of initials together when they hold hands. Apparently this idea came about very last minute. Khloe let fans know on her blog that she and Lamar were eating pizza and then just decided to go get a tattoo out of blue. She said, “I think the best tattoo experiences are the spontaneous ones, because that way you are not only left with the tattoo, but an amazing memory to go along with it!”

Mark Sanchez Munches Hot Dog During Game

When it comes to quarterbacks eating on the sidelines, I could maybe see Jay Cutler munching on a snack, since he’s a Type 1 diabetic. After all, if Cutler’s blood sugar gets too low, he could be in serious danger. However, how about Mark Sanchez munching on hot dog before the end of the game?

Here’s a video:

Sanchez thought he was being discreet when he stuffed an entire hot dog in his mouth on Sunday, but you know how it is with TV cameras. Besides that, when you’re ahead by almost 40 points, the announcers have to do something to keep busy.
