Ashlee Simpson confirms Chicago role on Broadway

It has been speculated upon for the past several days that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz will be joining the Broadway show Chicago as murderess Roxie Hart. What was thought to be pure speculation has now been confirmed by Ash herself. She will in fact be portraying Roxie Hart on Broadway.

She told People magazine:

“I’m honored to be reprising my role as Chicago’s Roxie Hart, returning to the stage and joining this amazing cast. Being on Broadway is a childhood dream come true.”

According to the article, she will begin her run as Roxie on November 30.

Ashlee Simpson wants to design clothing

We all knew it was only a matter of time before Ashlee Simpson-Wentz followed in Jessica’s footsteps and applied her own keen sense of style to the fashion world. According to Star Magazine, Ash is looking to start her own clothing line.

A source told the magazine:

“Ashlee wants to start a clothing line. She wants it to be both preppy and punk rock. She thinks she can really succeed in fashion.”

Though I am always wary of a celebrity who crosses over into design, Ash is one famous fashionista whose clothing line I wouldn’t mind seeing. If it is anything like her own eclectic wardrobe, then I would definitely buy it!

Ash is following in the footsteps of many a celebrity, including her own sister, Jessica, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Avril Lavigne, Beyonce, Paris Hilton and Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen.

However, this is just speculation, but hopefully we will hear something official one way or the other soon!

I am really digging this outfit. Very muted, yet comfortable, yet still uber-stylish. And her new hair color works so well with the ensemble!

I wonder where Ash is heading off to sans Pete and baby Bronx Mowgli. Perhaps to New York City to begin rehearsals for her upcoming role in Chicago? Her outfit does seem to be made for cooler weather, so perhaps she is making her way over to the East coast. But I still don’t understand how her new hair color will work when she takes over as Roxie, the blonde bombshell murderess.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz buy Bronx a truck!

A toy truck, that is!

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and her rocker hubby Pete Wentz, with their adorable son Bronx Mowgli, were seen exiting a CVS Pharmacy in Los Angeles, California on Thursday, November 12. But it seems they hit more than just the pharmacy, leaving with a huge toy truck that I am assuming is for Bronx.

Win DVD of Chicago, starring Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones!

It seems to have been confirmed that Ashlee Simpson-Wentz will be appearing as Roxie Hart in the hit Broadway show Chicago. According to a recent report from Access Hollywood, her run will start in December and will last for six weeks.

In order to celebrate her transition from the small screen to the big stage, we will be giving away one DVD of the movie version of Chicago, starring Renee Zellwegger as blonde bombshell turned murderess Roxie Hart and Catherine Zeta-Jones as sultry jazz crooner Velma Kelly. The film also stars Richard Gere, John C. Reilly and Queen Latifah. It came out in 2002 and won an astounding six Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Now is a great time to get yourself familiar with the musical before Ashlee inhabits the role!

Mike Alexander, Jessica Simpson’s friend since 8th grade

We reported yesterday that Jessica Simpson is being worked to the bone by her personal trainer Mike Alexander. Well now it looks like Jess is being worked to the bone not by her personal trainer, but by her lifelong friend as well.

According to a recent Tweet from Jess, she has known Mike (@madfit) since the 8th grade. She said:

Ashlee Simpson and Colin Egglesfield to get naked on Melrose Place

I couldn’t help but to laugh at the title of this article on E! Online: “Out With a Bang.”

Because if the information in the article is correct, then Ashlee Simpson and Colin Egglesfield will seriously be leaving Melrose “with a bang.”

Egglesfield told the Web site about a sex scene the two have filmed for an upcoming episode of Melrose:

“It involves us both wearing half-loin cloths that they had to tape to us. There are very few clothes involved in the near future.”

He also said of Ashlee’s willingness to perform such saucy scenes:

“She’s up for anything.”

I think Pete agrees.

Colin said of his and Ashlee’s final storylines:

“Things get pretty violent and kind of crazy. Auggie ends up hitting the bottle and falls off the deep end a little bit.”

Egglesfield apparently added during the interview that this storyline was meant to be expanded upon, but because he was let go, it will be resolved more quickly.

E! Online also said of the potential for steamy sex scenes:

A source close to the show tells us that Colin and Ashlee actually have not one but two supersteamy sex scenes in the next few episodes, where the troubled twosome are almost completely au naturel.

Wowza. Sounds like hot stuff!

It sounds like Jessica is right…even having been let go, Ashlee is still bringing attention to the show.

Post-Ashlee, Will you still watch Melrose Place?

This is the question that has been on the minds of many a Simpson fan lately. After Ashlee Simpson’s character Violet gets written off Melrose Place, will you still be watching?

Personally, I will NOT be watching the show after she and Colin Egglesfield get written off. However, it is not only because they got the boot. I am not too keen about the new direction the producers want to take the show in. When asked about the tonal shift, producers Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer said:

Can you elaborate on the tonal shift?
SLAVKIN: Now that the characters are no longer suspects, they can have a great time, they can focus on their careers, they can get into bed with each other without having this ominous cloud hanging over the building… But this is still Melrose Place. There’s still going to be intrigue on the show.

Do you think viewers were turned off by the dark nature of the show?
SWIMMER: Who knows why the ratings aren’t better? I think for us, it’s just a matter of moving on in the direction we [always] wanted to go.

In my opinion, cutting out the dark undertone of the show is only going to make it more similar to the tons of shows about attractive 20-somethings already on the air. Heck, it might just start to seem like the post-high school happenings of the 90210 cast, considering it is on right after that.

I am curious to see how Violet and Auggie will be written out, and it seems like that storyline is already on the fast forward. Apparently next week, Auggie will finally succumb to Violet’s womanly whiles. I have a feeling that this duo will have something to do with Sydney’s murder, but how?

But the real question is, knowing what you know, will you still be watching Melrose Place after Ashlee and Colin are off and thr tone becomes lighter? Let me know in the comments!

Jessica Simpson is a “bad-ass”!

Jessica Simpson’s personal trainer Mike Alexander is confirming what we already knew: that Ms. Simpson is in fact a bad-ass.

Yesterday, Jessica Tweeted at Mike:

He Tweeted back at her:

@JessicaSimpson Probably because you’re a badass, and your efforts know no limitations. And I can deal with looking at that pouty mug…

Aw!

See, Jessica works hard for whatever type of body she has. In my book, this definitely qualifies her as a bad-ass, regardless of what the outcome might be.

Ashlee Simpson: From fair to raven-haired

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has gone full circle through the spectrum of hair colors in the past year. From light blonde to blood red to her current color of raven black, there is nothing that she won’t try and nothing that she won’t look great in.

She debuted her new color yesterday while exiting a medical building in Beverly Hills, California. She complimented her new hair color with dark wash denim and a too-cute-for-words black and white striped top.

As we mentioned a few days ago, hubby Pete Wentz told E! Online that Ash dyed her hair for an upcoming role. However, it can’t possibly be for Chicago, as Roxie Hart is a blonde. Or perhaps they’re taking it in another direction?

I have a personal theory that this is a big F-U to Melrose Place. Though Ash has always experimented with red hair, it was necessary for her role as Violet because Sydney had red hair as well. I also recall reading that she frequently had to have her hair re-dyed because of how bright of a red it had to be, so maybe this is meant to be a statement to the producers.

What do you think of Ash’s new look and the potential reasoning behind it?
