Check out the latest article from Ultimate Guitar, wherein they list their opinion regarding the top 10 mightiest guitar gods in punk rock history. It’s an interesting article, and definitely worth a look.

From Johnny Ramone (at number 4) to Lou Reed (at the number 1 spot,) check out the list and see how well they nailed it. I think they did a pretty good job – what about you?

Rise Against Announce Album Plans

Happy Monday, folks! First, I would like to apologize for the lack of updates recently. I am currently undergoing a move, and I’m sure most of you can understand how time consuming that is! Rest assured I will post as frequently as possible.

But, I digress.

Rise Against fans will be happy to know that the band has finally announced a title and release date for their upcoming album. Entitled “Appeal to Reason,” and will hit stores October 7th, 2008. This will be the follow-up to their 2006 release “The Sufferer & The Witness.”

Additionally, the band will be headlining a tour this Fall along with Alkaline Trio, Thrice and Gaslight Anthem. I’ll offer more details on that when I have them.

Tracklist for Upcoming Lagwagon EP Released

Fans of Lagwagon should be pleased to find out that the track list for their upcoming EP has recently been announced.

The EP, entitled “I Think My Older Brother Used to Listen to Lagwagon” will debut August 19th, 2008. It is the followup to their 2005 album “Resolve.”

Rise Against Almost Done With New Album

According to an article in GIGWISE, Rise Against have essentially finished working on their new album.

Leader singer Tim McIlrath commented that “[the album] is mostly finished and is coming together really well.” I’m eagerly anticipating future updates on the status of the new Rise Against album.

No title or release date have been set, but I’ll definitely update all of you when I have the information!

Less Than Jake Contest Updates

Hello folks – there has been a slight change of plans.

Due to the enormous amount of comments I received over the weekend (and was unable to get to,) I will be announcing the winner for the Less Than Jake contest TOMORROW. I would feel bad if those comments were unable to be counted, especially considering they DID make the deadline ( I was just super busy and unable to moderate them.)

The Real McKenzies EP

The Real McKenzies have posted the first song off their upcoming album “Off the Leash”, which will be released August 5th. It is the followup to their previous release “10,000 Shots.”

Bad Religion Posts Track on Myspace Page

Bad Religion have posted the acoustic version of their song “Sorrow” on their Myspace page. The track appears as part of the bonus features on the deluxe edition of “New Maps of Hell,” due to drop July 8th.

Check out the track here and tell me what you think. I enjoy the song (both regular and acoustic versions) and I’d like to know how other BR fans feel, too!

Also, keep in mind there are only three more days until the Less Than Jake contest ends! Since the 6th falls on a Sunday, I will be announcing the winner on Monday so stay tuned to see if you won.
