“Coma” received a nod in the Adult Contemporary category. This comes after the song debuted at number nine on the AIR Independent chart earlier this year. The most exciting thing is that there’s more where that came from. “Coma” is the first single lifted from Jacob’s debut album Reason, which is set to hit record stores in 2010.

You might remember that the music video for “Coma” featured ex-Neighbours star Pippa Black. It seems she might have put in a good word for Jacob before leaving Ramsey Street, because he’ll play “Coma” on the show. Jacob will hit Charlie’s Bar in an episode airing on January 20. It looks like he went down a treat with Dr Karl, Susan, and Toadie!

The band has worked hard to build up a strong fanbase online, so it seemed right to announce details of their special guerilla gig on the web. It took just two days for the news to go viral across MySpace, Tiwtter, and Facebook. Fans packed out a tiny café on the beach to see the boys strip back their songs with an acoustic set.

Amy Meredith are no strangers to guerilla gigs. They also recently played a show on a crowded train! There are more guerilla gigs planned over summer, so many sure you follow @amymeredithband on Twitter to get all the details.

Amy Meredith’s recent gigging blitz was in efforts to promote their new single “Pornstar,” which is released today.
The song comes from the band’s forthcoming debut album, which will hit stores early next year.

“G-SHOCK is the only piece of jewellery I wear and I feel naked without one. It’s an honour for me to design my own Shock and I’m looking forward to adding it to my collection that I have acquired over a 15-year period,” he said.

The night also featured a special appearance by Kikuo Ibe, the original G-SHOCK designer. A live Japanese drumming demonstration and the release of hundreds of balloons containing G-SHOCK watches made this one memorable night!

Gibson Guitars are releasing the ultimate collector’s item for AC/DC fans: the Angus Young signature model.
The axe is based on the guitarist’s 1968 Gibson SG. Like all guitars of the period, it’s crafted in solid mahogany. This medium-dense wood creates a rich, round, warm tone, and looks gorgeous.
If you want to get your hands on one you’ll need $3617 US for the standard version, $6115 US for the Vintage Original Spec version and $9409 for the aged one. What a way to take advantage of the strength of our dollar!

Driving half an hour looking for a park will do that to you. Then there were the crowds inside, the bored sales assistants, and the stores which didn’t have the items I wanted anyway. And we all know it’s going to get worse in the coming weeks.

These days, I don’t know why I bother. It’s much easier to shop online, and awesome Aussie retailer Chaos has got a bunch of cool deals to ring in the festive season. They’re currently celebrating the 30 Days of Chaosmas, with fantastic specials and offers each day. For example, today you can get your Britney fix without paying an exorbitant price to see a lacklustre concert! Chaos is offering the Britney Singles Collection and plenty of other Britney CDs for just $7.95. Some may argue they’re not even worth that, but they’re good stocking stuffers for your little sisters!

If you’re stuck for ideas, consult the cool Chaosmas Gift Finder. It’ll help you find the perfect present for mum, your bratty little brother, Aunt Doris, and your mates. Or you could always cop-out and get a gift voucher!

Either way, a rocking musical present’s bound to be a bigger hit with the rellies than bath salts or socks!

There are no casual Tori Amos fans. She is one of those rare performers who inspires passion, whether it’s negative or positive. Love her or loathe her, there’s no ignoring this flame-haired goddess. Her Sinful Attraction tour winged its way to Sydney’s Opera House last night, and I was thrilled to go along for the ride.

The night opened up with the soulful sounds of Ray Mann. This young man with the old-school soul sensibility and his electric guitar was a strange choice for supporting Tori. She’s so unique that it’s always hard to find the right fit. The restless crowd told me though that he probably wasn’t it. It’s a shame because his songs were gorgeous, and his personality just as sweet. He told us that tonight, playing for his home audience at the iconic Opera House, was the best night of his life. Clearly he didn’t mind the chatty crowd and was just happy to play for those, like myself, who were happy to listen. I think he’s going to be embraced by the crowd on the Al Green tour he’s supporting next year. I have a feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more from Ray, which is a very good thing.

A roar of applause, a standing ovation, and then a hush as the previously talkative crowd gave itself over to the magic of Tori Amos. She appeared strong yet feminine in her black military jacket-style dress. It was slit at the sides, allowing Tori to sexily peek out her shapely legs clad in sparkly gold tights. She writhed on her piano seat with abandon, giving herself over to the power of her music. Put simply, she is a vision. I wish I’d known the Opera House wasn’t enforcing their no camera policy! As it is, you’ll just have to look at another one from the tour.

This was my third Tori show, and probably my favourite. A Tori set list is always surprising. She’s one of those artists who rarely plays the same song back-to-back. There are no guaranteed singles ready to make their appearance, no guarantees at all really. That may unnerve or even disappoint other music fans, but not Tori’s. Remember, she’s the artist who either love or loathe. And the people that love her, love everything she does. The favourite songs you hear are like gifts, beautiful unexpected gifts, and the ones you didn’t warm to on the recordings become so much richer for seeing them live.

This set list was more surprising than most though. Tori was here to promote her new album Abnormally Attracted to Sin, but you wouldn’t know it. “Lady in Blue” made an early appearance as an opener, and “Curtain Call” popped up near the end, but for the most part the new album was forgotten. For me, who’s often wished for more older material in her sets, this was a joyful blessing. Instead we were treated to more tracks from Scarlet’s Walk than any other, and the surprising addition of favourite B-sides like Here. In My Head and Take To The Sky. The latter was made more special with a little “I Feel the Earth Move” in the middle. I’d just bought Carole King tickets that same morning, so I gave an extra loud cheer.

There were so many highlights. “Silent All These Years” was one of those really important songs as I was growing up, and I gasped when I heard its familiar piano introduction. “Leather” was so deliciously sinful. Her cover of “Over The Rainbow” was one of the most moving live performances I’ve ever witnessed. “Merman” and “Putting The Damage On” were the perfect pair to end the perfect performance.

Tori told us that while every place you play as a performer is magical, there’s a little extra magic in taking to the stage at the Opera House. Clearly she loves to play here, and that showed in an amazing night of music. I feel truly honoured to have witnessed it.

Understandably, Mindi says the call from James was a “massive shock.” Yet after a few early jitters, she’s settled comfortably in the band’s new vision and extensive back catalogue.

“Love Is A War” is the start of a new chapter for the band. It’s not just the first single from their as-yet-untitled fourth album. It’s also the first track Mindi penned with James. The song marks a return to The Rogue Traders’ club roots, without compromising the pop sensibilities which made them a national sensation.

“Love Is A War” will hit radio this Friday before its digital release on Christmas Day.
