If he takes on the role, Johnny Depp will replace Sam Worthington (who replaced Tom Cruise!) and will play an American tourist who inadvertently gets sucked into an Interpol agent’s investigation of her ex. The agent, of course, is to be played by Angelina Jolie.

The Tourist is actually a remake of a fairly recent (2005) French thriller, and it’s odd that there have been so many casting changes and negotiations. However, if they manage to get both Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp in the film, it’s sure to be a blockbuster extravaganza. Also, there are talks to get Alfonso Cuaron to direct; I’m a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, the books and the movies, and when he did Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban it was stunningly beautiful. The idea of him being behind one of Angelina’s movies is exciting to me!

In all honesty, the only thing that would be better to me would be if they were casting Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp in a really heavy drama. They’re both incredibly talented actors and while I love Angie in a good action flick, I’d love to see the two of them really play off each other in a movie that is more character-driven rather than thrill-oriented. Still, the thought of the two of them being cast together is fantastic no matter what the movie!

The only thought that has me wondering how likely it is that this will end up confirmed after the negotiations are finished is that this isn’t really the type of role that Johnny Depp plays. He’s very well known for picking roles that are considered quirky. While this sounds like an exciting movie, “quirky” doesn’t really fit, so it’s almost odd to picture him playing the part as it’s described. On the other hand, when you always play the unexpected, it could be interesting to play a straight-up thriller character.

While in Japan for the Inglourious Basterds photocall and premiere, Brad spoke about the “motorcycle mishap” and made light of the situation while a translator re-told the story.

Brad tells the crowd he suffered no injuries in the spill – except for his ego. He then confessed that he was trying to get away from the paparazzi and jokes that instead of evading them he only ended up giving them a “really good story”. In the end, what upset him the most was that it was Brad’s favorite bike.

The video goes on to show a brief clip from Inglourious Basterds and we see Brad out front signing autographs. A reporter asked if he would be willing to work with Quentin Tarantino again and Brad said he absolutely would and that he’s hoping for a prequel to the movie.

I think a prequel starring more of Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine sounds like a great idea! What do you think?

Honestly, it doesn’t get any less exciting no matter how many times I watch it. Seeing Angelina Jolie jumping onto a truck, watching her hop off a subway, the way she runs two steps up the wall to punch someone in the face… all of it just makes me even more eager to see the whole movie.

It’s almost unfair of Sony to tease us this way, letting us see the trailer but knowing that Salt hits theaters in July 2010 – a date that feels really far away! I can barely wait!

For the photocall, Brad wore a laid-back dark suit (probably Tom Ford but don’t quote me on that just yet!). He looked particularly impish as he stood for photos, wonder if there was some sort of behind-the-scenes joking around that we don’t know about – after all, we know what his sense of humor is like!

Brad went casual for the movie premiere, wearing black jeans, a black leather motorcycle jacket, and his black knit cap which seems to be replacing his newsboy caps lately.

I think that Brad’s beard beads are totally goofy but in a charming way. He may be one of the few people around who can actually get away with it.

One thing I can’t help but notice – with the facial hair and the casual dark clothing, Brad’s beautiful blue eyes really stand out, don’t you agree?

Unfortunately it’s the Russian trailer so unless you speak the language (I wish I did, I always wanted to learn more than the handful of words I do know) you won’t understand what is said in the trailer. It doesn’t matter much though – once Angelina Jolie as Evelyn Salt stands up to leave the room, the action kicks in and that’s an international language anyone can understand!

I particularly loved when we see Angelina jump off the overpass onto the blue truck – remember when we saw her filming that scene? Also, I must say that although she’s beautiful at all times, Angelina is especially gorgeous with the straight, dark hair.

UPDATE: Sony has pulled the trailer, probably because it was not meant to be leaked yet. More than likely Sony will upload their own full trailer soon. I’ll keep looking for one I can post right here but in the meantime, it’s still able to be seen over here. Quick, catch it while you still can! This link also includes a basic translation of the Russian dialog.

Allegedly Brad walked right past a group of fans who had gathered to wait for him and they didn’t even recognize him. I guess the beard is throwing people off. Still, I can’t imagine that anyone at PittWatch would have any trouble at all recognizing Brad, beard or not!

Not only that, but they weren’t swarmed either! Although there are photos, it looks like they were taken by a regular everyday person rather than a team of screaming paparazzi. Also, according to the write-up, although people stared as they recognized them, the Jolie-Pitt family was able to have a fun Halloween just like anyone else. See the pictures here!

Unfortunately the photos didn’t catch Pax, Knox, or Vivienne, so I don’t know what his costume was. However, we had Maddox as some sort of monster in camouflage (zombie militia perhaps?), Shiloh appeared to be a soldier as well, and Zahara was Batman which was a surprise to me since I would have guessed that she’d be a princess of some sort.

Brad and Angelina got into the spirit of things as well. I love when parents dress up to take their kids out (I was a witch last night!) and that’s exactly what they did. Angelina went as a vampire or something along those lines, with grey hair, pale skin, and blood on her face. Meanwhile, as a parent I laughed really hard when I saw that Brad dressed up as DJ Lance from the popular children’s show “Yo Gabba Gabba”.

I’m so glad that the family got to go out and enjoy such a fun family tradition. I hope all my PittWatch readers had a great Halloween as well – let me know in the comments if you dressed up this year!

I really loved the movie. I was never able to get into the book (though I tried several times) because I’m just not fond of Anne Rice’s writing style. However, the movie was completely captivating. I was initially skeptical when I heard that Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise were cast as vampires because I just couldn’t picture it.

In the end I more than ate my words because Brad was a perfect and charming Louis while Tom was incredible as the monstrous Lestat. I’ve seen this movie about five or six times and I never get tired of it.

I think Interview With the Vampire would make a wonderful Halloween night movie if you’re looking for something to watch. I’ve got plans to watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show because Tim Curry playing a transvestite is a great way to celebrate October 31st, but when that’s over I think I’ll pop my Interview With the Vampire DVD in and enjoy Halloween with Brad Pitt!

For what it’s worth, although I obviously voted for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, I also voted for George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle for their Darfur activism (along with Brad), I voted for Bono because he is a truly charitable person who has done incredible things over the years, and Hayden Panettiere just because I have to respect her for being willing to risk arrest in Japan just so she could save dolphins.

Angelina wore a super-sexy dress – black and clingy with a partially open back and paired it with Christian Louboutin heels. I’d gotten so used to seeing her in her loose and flowing maxi dresses lately that I had almost forgotten how amazing she looks in a body-hugging outfit!

Meanwhile, Brad looked mighty good as well. He was a bit more casual than Angie was, dressed in dark colors. They both looked pretty happy other than a few shots where Brad looks on edge as he tries to drive out of the parking lot. I’d be on edge too, the video that X17 caught shows an insane amount of camera flashes going off and someone actually had to tell everyone to let the car get through.

Really, I’m amazed that people don’t get run over more, what with the way they all stand in front of celebrities’ cars when they’re trying to drive.

It was part business for Brad and Angelina. Angie had a book called Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide and it seems that the two-hour dinner was also a meeting regarding its launch. It’s not much of a surprise that Angelina would be interested by such a book, considering all her work with oppressed refugees via the UNHCR.

According to X17, another restaurant patron said, “Brad and Angelina looked really happy to be together. Angelina was holding Brad’s hand and she was smiling the whole time. They both seemed proud of each other.” Awww.
