Despite getting back together with STP, Scott Weiland is already looking forward to his second solo album.
While on the Howard Stern show, Weiland announced that he was working on the album with legendary producer Steve Albini (he’s worked with the Pixies, Page & Plant, PJ Harvey and Nirvana). Also, Weiland revealed that No Doubt’s Adrian Young would be appearing as the album’s drummer.

As of now, there is no other info, but I did read that November is the expected release date, so we’ll have to wait and see.

I’m looking forward to this album, it should be interesting.

And, if anyone is concerned about this affecting anything in STP, you have have nothing to fear.

The first reason is that the guys in STP did various projects and still stuck together for a few more years. Scott had his first solo album, 12 Bar Blues, while the other guys did the Talk Show project. Plus, all the bs these guys went through, I highly doubt a Scott Weiland solo album would break them up again.

The second reason is that Scott’s been working on this solo album for years. Back in 2005 he appeared on Last Call With Carson Daily and debuted some new solo tracks. So, let Scotty boy get this out of the way so that he can focus on STP again.

“Never There” was the first single off of Cake’s third album Prolonging the Magic in 1998. It spent 3 weeks at the top spot on the Modern Rock Tracks, making it a pretty big single.
What I like about “Never There”, and I guess most Cake songs, is that the music is just a tad upbeat, while the lyrics are pretty much depressing, but always manage to speak the truth. Their a clever band.
Check out the video, if you forgot the song.
Oh yeah, the video is pretty entertaining as well.

Since we already mentioned STP today, let’s keep the theme going.
I already did a post on Tiny Music last summer, but it’s still my favorite STP album (and their best). Besides, this beautiful weather just tells me that it’s time to bring this album back by blasting it for all to hear.
With that, here’s my post from last August: Stone Temple Pilots – Tiny Music…Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop.
Until next time, enjoy the groovy video for “Big Bang Baby”.

Stone Temple Pilots are apparently going to release a DVD of their private Houdini estate performance from April 7, where they also announced a massive 65 date tour.
There’s no other info at this time, but be sure to check out the band on May 1 when they appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
I love STP, but I’m not too sure about this. It seems kind of lame to release a live DVD with only 7 tracks, but if they add some special features then I’m game.
For now, check out this little sampler from the April 7 performance.

The festival was inspired by the “A Gathering of the Tribes”, which was held October 6 and 7, 1990 at Mountain View and Los Angeles, CA.
