He Knows the West Coast Offense
Let’s face it, that complicated 2,000 play offense of Eric Mangini’s is something else. Who can really learn this thing? It’s mentally taxing, especially to an older quarterback who played one offense for nearly his entire career. With the Vikings, Favre is back to the offense he knows and is comfortable with.

Childress Knows How to Coach Him
Favre can play like a hero or a maniac. With the right team and coach, he doesn’t feel that he needs to make every single play himself. He’s got the weapons now and he also has a coach he trusts and who understands him. Childress knows how to call plays that calm Favre down and keep him in a positive rhythm.

He Played Green Bay Early
He’s already played his old team, the Green Bay Packers, and beaten them both times. The pressure, which can leave a quarterback like Favre mentally drained, is off. Now he can just play. Business as usual.

Reasons Brett Favre Will Stay Strong

The Washington Examiner interviewed Millen last week, asking him if he had a different perspective about the game now that he had been an “NFL executive.” Here’s what Millen said:

“… I have a far better picture on how each team was assembled. So now I know when the coaches implement a game plan I can better explain to the fans how each player figures into the plan. I am sure that I will still say what were they thinking when they called that play — but at least my understanding of the entire process will be more complete.”

He should have understood this all the first time he called games, shouldn’t he? Besides all that, you know there are Lions fans all over the country grimacing every time Millen opens his mouth. Which brings me to a good point, why doesn’t he do just that? Lay low until the mess he created in Detroit is completely fixed. Then he can come out, apologize, and perhaps be a bit more humble in the booth. Right now, it’s too soon to see or hear from him again.

Matt Millen Back in Broadcast Booth

Here are the details: Jay Cutler has teamed up with Lilly, who will donate $1,000 (which is the cost of one camp scholarship for a Type 1 diabetic child), for every touchdown pass he completes during the 2009 season to the American Diabetes Association’s camp scholarship fund.

Not only that, but for every pass he completes, they will donate $100. You can keep track of all the stats for this incredible project at Jay’s website. Go Bears! (Or at least, go Cutler!) To hear more of Cutler’s story, listen to him talk about that challenge when he was losing weight and before he found out he was Type 1 diabetic:

Not only that, but is it just me or does this lady seriously NOT look pregnant in the slightest? What has she gained? Like ten pounds?

Well, good for her. She’s got a handsome hubby, who is just about to beat the Colts (my prediction), a baby on the way, and lots and lots of money. I’d say it must be pretty great to be Gisele right now, wouldn’t you?

Tony Romo Comes Home to Play Packers

So what gives?

A friend of Sosa’s and an employee of the Cubs, Rebecca Polihronis, says this is much ado about nothing. She says, “He’s not trying to be Michael Jackson.”

Apparently this is a case where Sosa has been undergoing skin treatments to help his completion after so many years playing baseball in the sun. Polihronis says this is a “rejuvenation process for his skin.” She also says his skin doesn’t look this light in person, that the lighting in the photo makes it look much worse than it really is.

So there you have it.

Sammy Sosa Lightning Skin?

These guys played passionate. I don’t have the official stats. Stats are for losers and this week we’re winners.

I think this is going to be the soundbyte that will be played again and again for weeks (and possibly years) to come. And rightly so.

You forget how important wins are until you have a team that struggles. Before Sunday, Tampa Bay was 0-7 this season. More than that, they had not won a game since November 2008. One year! Add to that the fact that Sunday was the very first game ever from quarterback Josh Freeman, and you’ve got a much needed turning point in the moral and potential of a team.

Raheem Morris’ quote also reminds me of just how poorly the Packers have played. After all, stats of quarterback Aaron Rodgers are all the fans of the Packers have received these days. Rodgers may have good stats, but they don’t translate to wins. As the players, fans, and coaches of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers experienced on Sunday, wins are what matter in this league.

In a press release, Comedy Central announced that it has worked out a deal for The Onion to do a scripted comedy series that will “take on the whole universe of modern sports — teams, players, leagues, sycophantic fans, ridiculous products and over-hyped sports coverage.” Should be a gem, and I’m sure you all will find humor in it. And doesn’t the world need a little more humor?

A-Rod Celebrates with Kate and Family

One way this theory would work out well is with famous people. An ex of someone famous always seems to blab about things that the other person just doesn’t want people to know. Case in point? Khloe Kardashian and her ex NBA basketball boyfriend Rashad McCants. In an episode of Khloe’s reality show “Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami,” the Kardashian sisters are seen hacking into McCants’ voicemail and listening to a message supposedly sent by a female fan. McCants says this was totally staged and never happened.

They alude to this in this clip:

McCants definitely isn’t portrayed in a very good light. Did he cheat? Did he really go out with Khloe only for publicity? Who knows. The thing that shocked me was: you mean reality TV isn’t really real?
