Windows Vista Ready is Deceiving
A lawsuit has been filed complaining about the Windows Vista Ready tag placed on computers which says the hardware isn’t exactly what it says it is.
In a reply, Microsoft explains that Windows Vista Ready means the hardware is Windows Vista Capable wherein a cut down version of Windows Vista can run on the machine. Other features like Aero would require complex hardware.
Anyways, I think techie people would not understand the difference and as long as the tag says the hardware is Windows Vista Ready then they would expect the WOW experience from the latest operation system of Microsoft.
Computers under 500 USD would typically have that tagline but looking at the specs — Celeron, 512 MB of RAM would not give you the power to enjoy Windows Vista unless that is the only application you are running on your box. If you are the average consumer you would think that 500 USD is a very good deal; unfortunately, you would realize later on that you should have just saved a few hundred bucks more.
Microsoft should change their tagline to Windows Capable instead which would most likely lead consumers to asking for the scope of Capability.
